Late last summer we had a 1920s theme party for my friend Adrienne's birthday. Costumes were mandatory and we put a big focus on taking some terrific pictures, including setting up a lovely little portrait area. Here's what I learned:
Gimlets are the bees knees
Gentlemen look dashing in the 20s
15 people dressed up like flappers and their lads make quite a scene in Doylestown
Playing musical chairs to jazz records is way more fun than it sounds

Theme parties are so much fun! I can't wait for some new and exciting themes, I love when my friends are excited and daring with dressing up for parties!

Belated V-Day- Colin and Carson

Colin
Carson and son Hank

Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis are my idea of a power couple. Listening to the Decemberists at work today- I still get chills when I hear O Valencia, The Crane Wife, I Was Meant for the Stage... and Carson Ellis' illustrations are the perfect match for Colin's beautiful, heartbreaking stories. Every time I hear these songs and see these drawings, I feel like they have been around for generations, I feel like they are stories and portraits of my family from years past. If you haven't encountered either of these two amazing minds... well, you know what to do.

Long Overdue Halloween

I had a great time this year making Halloween costumes for Hamilton, Dane, and myself. I love homemade costumes!! Batman, Robin, and Cookie Monster are my doing, and the cookie is Amanda's handiwork- great job!

Sewing for Home

A lovely little project from Anna Maria Horner's "Seams to Me", handy for my bedroom!

I have had the fabric with the lovely girls on it for so long and never could find a suitable use, but this was absolutely perfect!

making books

I signed out a copy of Eco Books by Terry Taylor and have been messing around learning about bookbinding and such. This is a little book I made to test out the techniques from a bud light lime case and some legal and graph paper. Very happy with the results, and looking forward to learning lots more complicated techniques! Highly recommend this book, stay tuned for more.
