Found

Last year when I went to visit my sister at Oberlin, I found some photos and an index card stuck in a book in a used bookstore. Its sad to think that someone might be missing these, but it is definitely an interesting little window into a total stranger's life!

I have been collected found notes, cards, etc for a few years- http://good-times.webshots.com/album/557329408xhrvsy

Penguin Love

Feeling kind of isolated and bookish lately and seriously coveting these drop-dead-gorgeous Penguin special editions. Commissioning fabulous, influential, contemporary artists to reinvent classic books is such an effective marketing tool, at least on me!

Wuthering Heights by fashion illustrator Ruben Toledo

Part of a 'classic books for boys' series

The RED classics benefit the global fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. Especially love this quote, "Another thirst had come upon him, the thirst for women, for luxury, for everything life in Paris implies"

Part of the "Great Loves" series

One more RED edition, quote reads, "Who wants a dingy woman? We are expected to be pretty and well dressed till we drop..."

Ethan From deluxe edition, this one I like bc the cheery cover is so pleasantly misleading...

... and Bridget Jones as part of the Penguin Ink series, inspired by tattoo art. This one is Tara McPherson, she is extreme and wonderful.
I think I shall treat myself to a few tasty, arty, booky treats.

I used to be a draw-er

I've never been passionate about drawing, but always been very proud of my abilities. Going through some old artwork has made me feel very much that I should get back to drawing and utilize my talents. Here are some selections of which I am quite proud! My apologies for the crummy photos...

my first foray into quilting...

So, for my first foray into quilting i am making kaffe fassett's pink flags patchwork quilt. the layout in the last picture shows a general idea of what it will look like, the open spaces will be filled in with solid triangles in two different monochromatic blue prints. im very excited, what color thread do you think i should quilt it with, dear readers?

Roof Garden Beginnings

My radish sprouts in their early stages, a few weeks ago.

For the past few weeks I've been slowly building a garden on my roof of vegetables and flowers. So far everything I have has been planted from seed, and I currently have little seedlings of radishes, carrots, lettuce greens, scallions, peas, and nasturtiums. I've been collecting old storage containers and recycling them for use as planters to save money. Gardening is such a fun hobby and I've learned that you really can do a lot in containers with just a little bit of space!

These little pea sprouts are so lovely! They are the sweetest!

Mixed lettuce greens

Radish Sprouts

I am just so thrilled that everything is turning out well, I think my garden will keep groooowing and groooowing!

Late last summer we had a 1920s theme party for my friend Adrienne's birthday. Costumes were mandatory and we put a big focus on taking some terrific pictures, including setting up a lovely little portrait area. Here's what I learned:
Gimlets are the bees knees
Gentlemen look dashing in the 20s
15 people dressed up like flappers and their lads make quite a scene in Doylestown
Playing musical chairs to jazz records is way more fun than it sounds

Theme parties are so much fun! I can't wait for some new and exciting themes, I love when my friends are excited and daring with dressing up for parties!
